Welcome To The Derby City Bop Calendar Of Events Page
We have added this interactive calendar link to make it easy to view our dances, meetings, and events as well as the events of our sister clubs. Let us know if you want your event listed. Please forward an event graphic.

 

 

Click the image above to go to the interactive calendar. If you are an events director or board member please request a password so you may add events to the calendar. Events are added by clicking the small plus sign (+) next to the day of the week. You will be directed to a new web page requesting the password. By typing the correct password you will visit the scheduling page where you may fill out the online form. Upon submission the request will be reviewed and automatically updated into the web calendar. If you wish to modify or delete an event you requested and which has been posted to the calendar, you will need to send an email to the link below requesting your change. Please don't add another event thinking it will overwrite the first, it will only add a second event.

Please take some time to click the various calendar buttons, calendar dates, and calendar views. Events show up in a hovering box when you place your curser over a date with an event. Click any event for additional details and hyperlinks to web pages or websites of interest for that event. This calendar is highly interactive so play with it a bit until you become familiar with it's operation. We hope it adds to your enjoyment of Bop Events.

Members, friends, and interested parties may join our email program. We'll send you weekly "This Week At DCBA" emails, notices of upcoming events, meetings, the DJ of the night each Tuesday, and other items of interest. In addition, we'll email links to our newsletter as it is published. Please use the button above to register your email with Derby City Bop Association. Please rest assured this list is for Derby City Bop use only. We never sell our list or provide the list to any other organization.

You may always un-subscribe or change your email at any time using links which are included within the body of our emails.  If you are already receiving email from us we probably already have your correct email information however you may also update your contact information from within any email at any time. We hope this service helps to keep our members and friends in our sister clubs up to date on what's happening at DCBA.
Founded in 1990, Derby City Bop Association is Louisville's first and oldest club dedicated to the preservation of Jitterbug style dances commonly known as Bop, Shag, and Swing. In addition to preserving our style of dance, we are dedicated to the preservation of various music styles known as Bop, Beach Bop, Swing, and Rhythm and Blues.

Derby City Bop Association dances every Tuesday night.
We dance at Jim Porters Good Time Emporium.
Doors open at 6:00 PM. DCBA DJ's play until approx. 10:30 PM.
Jim Porters is located across from KT's Restaurant at 2345 Lexington Road.
Intermediate level dance lessons are offered every Tuesday night every other month in four week sessions.
Intermediate lessons begin at 6:30 PM and last until 7:00 PM and are held in the main ballroom.
Beginner level lessons are offered every Tuesday night of every month.
Beginner lessons begin approximately 7:00 PM and last until 7:30 PM.
Beginner lessons are held in the front ballroom at Jim Porters.
Group/Progressive lessons will be taught on Sundays at The Moose Lodge for a fee. Lessons begin at 6:00 PM.
Non-Members may participate in Beginner lessons but you must be a member to participate in all other lesson formats.
